Effective date: 29 September 2026 · Last updated: 29 September 2026

In short. eZono Cue Cards shows ultrasound procedure guides to healthcare professionals. We use your Google account only to sign you in and to keep a record of what you have purchased. We do not collect patient data, we do not track your location, and we do not sell your personal data or share it with advertisers.

2. What we collect, why, and for how long

Account identity and status

Your email address, a user ID, your account type and subscription status, and the dates your account was created and last used.

  • Why we process it: to sign you in, manage your account and subscription status, and link your purchases to you.
  • What we do not store: your name and profile picture come from your Google account and are shown in the app, but we do not save them in our database.
  • Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR — performance of a contract.
  • Retention: until you delete your account (see section 6).

Purchase and licence data

Product ID, purchase type, Google Play order ID and purchase token, purchase and expiry dates, renewal status, and the identifier of the procedure you bought.

  • Why we process it: to verify purchases with Google Play, restore your access on a new device, determine which procedures you are entitled to, and check periodically that a subscription is still valid and has not been refunded or cancelled.
  • Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR — performance of a contract.
  • Retention: for the duration of the entitlement, plus the retention periods required by tax and commercial law.

Both categories above are processed by the service providers named in section 4. Your app settings — interface language, screen orientation, card view and your position in the procedure list — are stored only on your device and are never sent to us.

3. What we do not collect

  • No patient or clinical data. The app displays reference material. It does not record, upload or store any information about the people you examine.
  • No precise location. The app does not request location permissions.
  • No access to camera, microphone, contacts or files. The app requests none of these permissions. The only permissions it declares are internet access, a foreground service for downloads, and notifications that show download progress.
  • No payment details. Purchases are handled entirely by Google Play. We never see or store your card number or billing address.
  • No sale of personal data and no sharing of personal data with advertising networks or data brokers.

4. Who we share data with

We do not sell your data. We share it only with the following processors, who act on our instructions:

ProviderPurpose
Google Firebase AuthenticationSign-in and account management
Google Cloud FirestoreStoring your user profile and purchase records
Google Cloud FunctionsServer-side verification of purchases
Google Firebase StorageDelivering procedure files and images
Google Play BillingProcessing purchases and subscriptions

These services are provided by Google Ireland Limited and Google LLC. Google’s own handling of this data is described in the Google Privacy Policy. We may also disclose data where we are legally required to do so.

5. International transfers

Our purchase-verification functions run in the European Union (europe-west1). Some of the services listed above may nevertheless process data outside the European Economic Area, including in the United States. Where that happens, the transfer is covered by the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses and by the EU–US Data Privacy Framework.

6. Your rights, and how to delete your account

Under the GDPR you have the right to:

  • access the personal data we hold about you;
  • have inaccurate data corrected;
  • have your data erased;
  • restrict or object to processing;
  • receive your data in a portable format;
  • withdraw consent at any time, where processing is based on consent;
  • lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority — for eZono AG this is the authority competent for Thuringia, Germany, or the authority where you live or work.

To exercise any of these rights, email our Data Protection Officer informally at datenschutz@ezono.com, stating the details we need to identify your account.

In practice, the only personal data we hold about you is your account data and your purchase history. If you ask for a copy, we will send it to you as a machine-readable file. Your name, email address and profile picture come from your Google account — change them there and they change here too.

Deleting your account and data

To delete your account and the personal data associated with it, email datenschutz@ezono.com from the address you signed in with, or use our account deletion page. We will delete your profile and purchase history within 30 days. Records we are required to keep under German commercial and tax law are retained for the statutory period and then deleted.

Deleting your account does not cancel a Google Play subscription. Manage or cancel subscriptions in the Google Play app under Payments & subscriptions.

7. Security

Data in transit is protected with TLS. Access to stored data is restricted by authentication rules so that your profile and purchase records are readable only by your own signed-in account and by authorised personnel. No system is perfectly secure, but we take appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your data.

8. Age restriction

This app is intended for healthcare professionals, is rated 18+ on Google Play, and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has provided us with personal data, contact us and we will delete it.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the app changes. We will then revise the “Last updated” date above, and for significant changes we will notify you in the app or by email. Continued use of the app after a change means you accept the revised policy.

10. Governing law

This policy and the processing it describes are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Germany. Our general terms and conditions are available at ezono.com/en/agb and our legal notice at ezono.com/en/rechtliche-hinweise.
